Frender is a stray dog that once roamed the streets of Clock Town. He is a scruffy, brown mut with amber colored eyes and is very friendly for a stray. He is very hyperactive and loves to play, often chasing after people or pouncing on them. This got him into a lot of trouble and was the cause of his near death.

Shortly after the end of he Carnival of Time, Frender pounced on the unsuspecting Skull Kid, who had been in town for the festivities, in an attempt to play with him (he’s made of sticks and dogs like sticks). TP Ganondorf (Sparkles), who was accompanying Skully, dealt the dog a swift, hard kick to the ribs in order to get him off the imp child, slamming him into a wall. After Skully got to his feet, seemingly unhurt, the pair walked away, leaving Frender broken in the streets. Due to his shattered ribs, he could barely breathe, let alone move.

Lucky for him, the Happy Mask Salesman was nearby and saw what had happened. He approached the injured dog slowly and calmly, and preformed the Song of Healing on him. Amazed by his almost instant recovery, Frender expressed his gratitude by jumping on the Salesman, knocking him over, and licking his face.

Since then, the dog has followed the mask salesman, becoming his travelling companion and friend. He is protective of him and is very loyal. However, he rarely listens to anything the man says, often running off on him only to return to his side shortly afterwards.
